Lee Brice has been a hot commodity these past several years. In addition to helping the Eli Young Band win Song of the Year at the 2012 ACM Awards with his composition “Crazy Girl,” Brice has gone on to earn a streak of No. 1 hits on his own with his songs “A Woman Like You,” “Hard To Love” and “I Drive Your Truck.”
In addition, Brice’s 2009 recording “Love Like Crazy” broke the record as the longest-running entry in the history of Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart. And Brice’s current single, the undeniably catchy “Parking Lot Party,” has been inching its way up the charts, too, currently placing in the Top 10.
Past accolades aside, these days the South Carolina native has his gaze set firmly forward. He’s nearly done with his next album and, as he said this week during an interview with CBS Detroit’s 99.5 WYCD (a Radio.com station), he’s gearing up to release a brand new song as his next single.
“‘Parking Lot Party’ is about to hit a ceiling [on the charts], so we’re going to come hard with a new song called ‘I Don’t Dance,’” Brice said. “Basically it’s a song that I was writing about who I was and where my wife basically brought me to. So it’s a song geared toward our first dance.”

“I wrote it before we got married [this past April]” Brice continued, “kinda for our first dance. I was trying to keep it a secret, but then I had to play it out one night. And she got mad, because I was playing it out before we got married.”
Brice can’t quite bring himself to call “I Don’t Dance” a ‘wedding song’ per se, but he does hover around the concept, eventually admitting that it’s “kind of a wedding sort of a thing.”
“It’s a tough guy being a tough guy going, ‘Look, I don’t dance, but I’ll dance with you, I’ll do whatever you want me to.’”
Which, he also admitted, is how he is with his own wife. “Obviously, she’s the boss, right?”

“We got a bunch more [songs] coming after that,” Brice continued. “I’m trying to finish up the record over the next two or three months. So if we put ‘I Don’t Dance’ out [at the start of the year], we’re looking at the whole album out being maybe in May or June — by my birthday anyway, June 10.”
In the meantime, Brice will be heading out on the road starting in January as part of Luke Bryan’s That’s My Kind of Night Tour (Cole Swindell is also on the tour).
